Guide

Argos marketplace fees and commission, explained

In short

  • Argos takes a commission on each sale.
  • It is worked out on what the customer pays: the price including VAT, plus any delivery charge.
  • The rate depends on the product's category, from 5% to 20%. Some categories have price thresholds, and the minimum fee is £0.25 per item.
  • VAT is added on top of the commission.
  • There is no separate payment fee. The store subscription is £39, invoiced every 4 weeks.

What the commission is charged on

Most sellers expect the commission to come off the price before VAT. On Argos it does not. It comes off the gross amount the customer pays: the item price including VAT, plus the delivery charge including VAT. So the same rate takes more than it would from the ex-VAT price.

Argos commission rates by category (2026)

From Argos's 2026 marketplace fee schedule, as given to sellers in the Argos seller portal. Where a rate applies to a "portion", the lower rate applies only to the part of the price above the threshold; otherwise the rate applies to the whole item.

How the rate is set

By category

Each product category has its own rate. A product that fits no listed category falls under Everything Else, at 15%.

Price thresholds

In some categories the rate changes above a price point. Argos's schedule does not say whether that price includes VAT; Trestle measures it on the item price before VAT and marks this as an assumption.

A minimum fee per item

If the percentage comes to less than £0.25, £0.25 is charged instead.

VAT on the commission

The rates exclude VAT, which Argos adds on top. A VAT-registered seller can usually reclaim it.

What Argos does not charge

There is no separate payment or card-processing fee line. Payment goes through Argos's marketplace platform (run on Mirakl).

Costs that are yours, not Argos's

  • Delivery. You deliver Argos orders, not Argos. Many FBA sellers look at Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfilment (MCF) from their FBA stock; others use a 3PL or their own carrier. Trestle assumes MCF and labels it as an assumption; enter your 3PL cost per unit and it uses that instead. Check Argos's current terms on packaging and carriers.
  • Returns. You handle returns and refunds yourself.
  • Store costs. The store subscription is £39, invoiced every 4 weeks. That is a cost of the store, not of each product, so Trestle shows it in the Argos summary and keeps it out of per-product figures.

Worked example: the commission base

Illustrative prices.

How the commission base is built for one sale (illustrative)
LineAmount
Item price, including VAT£24.00
Delivery charged to the customer, including VAT£3.60
Commission base£27.60
Commissionyour category rate × £27.60, or the minimum fee if that is higher

Worked out on the ex-VAT item price alone (£20.00), the base would be £7.60 smaller. That gap is why so many Argos sums come out too high.

Trestle works out each fee line with the category rates it holds, and marks any rate still awaiting confirmation, for every product in your catalogue.

What happens on a refund

How commission is treated on refunded items is set in the seller agreement. Trestle assumes the commission is refunded on refunded items, and labels every figure that relies on that assumption.

Not the Argos affiliate scheme

Searches for "Argos commission" often show Argos's affiliate programme, which pays websites for sending shoppers. That is a different scheme. This page is about what Argos charges sellers.

Questions
